An extended work stoppage could be disastrous for the league and potentially for the U.S. World Cup squad. Since they have little leverage, expect the players to cave. UPDATE: MLS and the Players Union have extended the deadline for negotiations through Feb 12.  Players will report to training camp as scheduled.

Many like me could hardly care about the MLS right now, and no no MLS season won’t impact the World Cup at all but rather actually be beneficial for the affected players who are playing elsewhere or will find game otherwise.

If this matter did not get worked out until next year so what — not only my soccer playing and viewing are not impacted by the MLS in any way.

Things should be better overall next year anyway after a whole lot more pains to be suffered by our country this year.

As with many ancillary businesses hurting badly with the declining economic times, except for the NFL which is thriving at record levels, the MLS will be back and better form in due time after the current required reset.
